Daniel Yergin is a highly respected authority on international politics and economics and on energy. He is a Pulitzer Prize winner for his work The Prize: The Epic Quest for Oil, Money and Power and a recipient of the United States Energy Award for “lifelong achievements in energy and the promotion of international understanding.” Most recently he co-authored The Commanding Heights: The Battle Between Government and the MarketplaceThat Is Remaking the Modern World, which received wide attention for its analysis and narrative of how the "world is changing its mind." Dr. Yergin and his colleague Thane Gustafson authored Russia 2010 and What It Means for the World, which The New York Times called “invaluable” and The Financial Times described as “extraordinarily intelligent.” Dr. Yergin has been named one of the 500 most influential people in the United States in the field of foreign policy by the World Affairs Councils of America and he is also the recipient of the 1997 United States Energy Award.
