Faros Healthcare, LLC, a spin-out of Centerstone Research Institute, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving behavioral healthcare through research and information technology, is bringing patent-pending artificial intelligence (AI) technology and software to healthcare providers through an exclusive license from Indiana University Research & Technology Corporation (IURTC). The technology will allow a personalized approach to healthcare treatment through the use of machine learning. The software tools not only recommend an optimal course of treatment for complex health conditions, but also learn over time based on patient outcomes and suggest intervention adjustments while considering treatment cost in the analysis.
Prior to Bennett’s wok at Faros Healthcare, he was a Data Scientist at Centerstone Research Institute. He received his PhD from the School of Informatics and Computing at Indiana University. He was the lead designer for Centerstone’s award-winning organization-wide data warehouse and analytics platform in healthcare (2010 TDWI Best Practices Award). He also served as the lead data architect for CRI's federal grant projects – providing database design and technical guidance for studies funded by AHRQ, SAMHSA, NIH, and the CDC – and the PI on studies related to the implementation of patient-response outcome systems across Indiana and Tennessee.
Bennett has published dozens of scientific articles, done interviews for national and international magazines like ComputerWorld and Slate, and been a guest on nationally syndicated radio talk shows. His work has also been featured as a TED talk and as part of IBM's “Smarter Planet” campaign.
He is currently working on projects using artificial intelligence to augment clinical decision-making in chronic illness, as well as utilizing in-home robots for therapeutic purposes with elderly patients.
