- Workplace Dignity
In 2017, Donato Tramuto became chairman of the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Leadership Council. As chairman, he is pursuing a singular initiative: workplace dignity.
Today, in organizations of all types (for profit corporations, nonprofits, and governmental/public sector organizations), a lack of dignity, respect and honor is rampant. Organizations that are meant to confer a sense of meaning and purpose through work, offer opportunity to those that need it, and control the efficient allocation of resources, often become a breeding ground for destructive behaviors. A lack of dignity for others shows up in a myriad of ways…
· Abuse of social and/or political power to control others
· Withholding opportunity and/or resources unfairly
· Showing prejudice and/or bias in the workplace
· Engaging in physical, emotional or psychological abuse
Over 60 million U.S. workers are affected in some way by workplace bullying. And over 60 percent of the time bullies are bosses, yet given social and power dynamics in the workplace, only 29% of cases are reported. Leveraging the success of the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights anti- bullying program in schools, Tramuto is working to develop a task force of powerful CEOs and a corporate curriculum to address this issue in the workplace.
Audience takeaways:
· Awareness and validation of the issue of workplace dignity in corporate America.
· Tools to address this issue in every workplace, big or small, across sectors.
· Importance for company culture and the bottom line of taking a stand to support dignity in the workplace. - Global Health Activist
For more than three decades (and four million air miles), Donato Tramuto, CEO of Tivity Health, has devoted his career to improving health outcomes for people all over the world. Compelled by the belief that everyone has a basic human right to healthcare regardless of their income or circumstances, he has made a significant impact as a global healthcare activist. He fought for better patient care during the height of the HIV/AIDS crisis in the 1990’s, advocated for a safer drug environment and digital health solutions in the 2000’s, and has worked to reduce medical errors. In this presentation, Donato will share his journey to address healthcare disparities in underserved communities. Many of these communities lack access to current health information and connectivity that drives health and well-being. It has also been reported that one billion people will go to their graves prematurely because they lack access to a healthcare worker. To help address this, Donato created Health eVillages, a global non-profit that provides state-of-the-art mobile health tools and training in some of the world’s poorest and most challenging clinical settings.
Audience takeaways:
· Healthcare challenges facing underserved areas
· What the U.S. can learn from healthcare practitioners in underserved regions
· Importance of Collaborative IQ in solving the world’s healthcare challenges. - Leadership and Inspiration
