Mohamed Massaquoi
Mohamed earned his Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Master’s in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from the University of Georgia. While at the University of Georgia, Mohamed was named the 2008 overall team captain, selected as a first-team All-Southeastern Conference and Academic All-SEC member. He is a member of the 2018 UGA 40 under 40 class. Mohamed served on the University of Georgia alumni board from 2017 - 2020. Mohamed is a graduate of the Harvard Business School after completing the Program for Leadership Development, which functions as their alternative executive MBA.
In his presentation, Mohamed will share his remarkable story of being a high-performing NFL athlete, losing his hand in a near-death accident, and reimagining his life as an organizational psychologist helping people perform at their best. Mohamed will discuss talent, resilience, strategic pivoting, and relying on the team around you. The audience will be able to draw lessons from his story about the common good.
The Accidental Change
Former NFL wide receiver and amputee, Mohamed Massaquoi, will discuss preemptive readiness and how to navigate change and create opportunity in adversity. Consisting of two parts, Massaquoi first will share his personal story of adversity, resilience, and creating desired outcomes in an adverse environment. He will address the value of mental health, resetting, and aligning to better develop skill sets and create a backdrop for motivation and inspiration. The second part will discuss business strategies to drive performance through change and adversity, including alignment, teamwork, and avoiding commoditization.
